Soundbite: Hope You Had A Good Day
Some time ago I was in a hotel on vacation. I was heading out for the evening and had the television on; I wasn’t watching, it was merely on for no particular reason. It happened to be the news and at the end of the program Charles Gibson said I hope you had a good day.
Even though I was on vacation I had been running around all day.
His statement made me pause. It got me to reflect on my day.
And I realized, I did have a good day, in fact it was a great day!
But I would’ve realized that if I hadn’t taken that moment.
I’ve been a little anxious lately. I talked with a friend, who told me what helped him was to reflect on the day towards the end of the day to see what good and not so good had occurred. Usually the good was greater than the not good!
It reminded me of when I reflected on my day during my vacation.
What if I could somehow get past my anxiety, even for moment, to reflect on good things which happened during the day?
Because good things always happen.
When I allow myself to see something good no matter how small or insignificant:
- It reduces my anxiety.
- It increases my gratitude.
- I feel more myself.
Hope you had a good day.
